December 2020 Recap
We had a busy month at Together We Own It. Staff and volunteers teamed up to feed, mentor, and strengthen our families. Here are the highlights.
Community Impact
900 Meals Served
Thank you to Maryland Food Bank, Westminster Rescue Mission, and Westminster High School for the donations to our food pantry.
In addition to our normal distribution, we were able to give 1,200 lbs. of turkey from Local Homestead Products to families celebrating Christmas.
22 Students in Programs
This month we had 13 youth at Rise Up and 9 youth at Discover You. We are currently taking referrals for these programs through our website.

Giving Tuesday
With your contributions, Own It will provide weekly group mentoring sessions at Discover You and Rise Up. Plus, 24/7 crisis intervention support and advocacy at court appearances, IEP meetings, and mediation sessions.

Our team would like to give special thanks to Wes and Sue who sent us this message with their donation:
"Two of our adult sons have died leaving five children between them. As fathers, these men made it a priority to mentor, coach, and be advocates for children in their respective communities. This year, we are using funds we would have spent on gifts for each other to honor the giving spirits of our two sons."
Spreading Holiday Cheer
Thanks to many generous individual community members and local businesses, our volunteers delivered gifts to over 600 children.
We drove Santa's sleigh through Carroll's neighborhoods carrying gifts, turkeys, and Christmas magic. Transportation was donated by Shane Weeks. George and Jenny Schooley, Camryn, and Blake became Santa and his elves for the evening. Youth leaders Davon, James, and Julian worked with volunteers Luca, Diana, and Cassidy to unload at every stop. The evening was an extraordinary success for everyone involved.

"In 2015, we were so excited to be able to impact one little girl and her family. This year, we’ve provided Christmas cheer for over 550 children. It is my favorite thing to watch our children open up their gifts to find such personalized items. We take each child’s wish list and pick out unique and individual items for each one; taking pride in the relationships we’ve built within our community.”
